Job Overview  

Joining us as an Office Leader, you will support 1-2 retail office(s) by providing daily operational direction and overall leadership to a customer-centric team directly report to the Operations Leader to establish and implement best practices that benefit the network, the brand and members of the team.

You will serve as the front-line manager to provide leadership and development of tax office employees, delivering an outstanding client experience, and achieving all office related growth objectives. You will have access to training to help you advance your knowledge and skills you will need to serve as a knowledgeable resource on procedures and products. You will prepare accurate tax returns for clients. This position is a year-round opportunity with greater schedule flexibility during the pre-season (May-December).  

 

Responsibilities of Office Leader (Day to day) 

  • Partner with management to create and implement office-level growth plans, which includes developing local partnerships and managing office community involvement 

  • Assist management in recruiting and interviewing candidates for tax office positions 

  • Serving as onsite point of contact for tax office associates and clients, ensuring quality and consistent execution that will allow us to promote the value of H&R Block and the services we provide    

  • Ensure clients are scheduled properly and conflicts are resolved 

  • Lead daily activities to ensure that all tax office employees work is completed according to deadlines, with attention to quality standards, priorities and overall goals 

  • Build an engaging team environment by training and coaching employees to execute on operating procedures and recognizing outstanding employee contributions 

  • Lead regular team meetings and communicate essential information to tax office employees 

  • Create employee work schedules and ensure accurate timekeeping and overtime management 

  • Prepare tax returns

Qualifications/Skills (What you will bring to the team) 

  • Prior experience working in a customer service, shift leader, or similar role 

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to plan/manage day-to-day office operations 

  • Experience supervising, managing people, or leading a team 

  • Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment or Income Tax Course within six months of hire date. 

  • Ability to meet all IRS and applicable state requirements and completion of required continuing education 

  • Customer-centric mindset with strong communication skills 

  • Computer proficient with the ability to use MS Office 

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision? 

  • Passionate, determined, resilient under stress, and a will to win attitude 

  • Able to work a flexible work schedule of 40 hours per week and flexibility in work assignments based on business needs 

  • High school diploma / equivalent or higher

Preferred but not required:  

  • 2+ years as a Tax Professional 

  • 2-5 years of work experience in an administrative/office management role 

  • History of delivering outstanding customer experiences
